After spending the last couple of weekends working with so many people at the shows, I kept seeing the same themes appear over and over.
Control.
Not enough.
Self-sacrifice.
Proving your worth.
Living according to what someone else expects of you. And underneath all of it—a deep realization that something has to change.
One of the most fascinating things I experienced was working with two people back-to-back who showed up as rulers in past lives.
The first was a man who came through as a king. In that lifetime, I saw him as a very harsh ruler. He could be verbally and physically cruel to the people around him.
But in this lifetime, the story had flipped.
He had experienced cruelty and victimization himself from a young age. And as he grew older, some of that same pain came through in how he communicated and treated the people closest to him, including his partner.
What came through very strongly was that he was experiencing the other side of the lesson.
Not as punishment—but as an opportunity to understand.
If he wanted his circumstances and relationships to change, the lesson was learning how to use his power differently. To speak with love. To communicate with kindness. To express what he needed without cruelty or control.
The next morning, his wife found me.
She told me that in the previous 24 hours, he had been different.
He had even decided he wanted to come back to the fair and walk around on his walker, receive, explore, and experience it for himself.
More importantly, she said he was beginning to speak up for himself and say what he wanted.
That is the difference between power and control.
Power doesn't require us to overpower another person.
Sometimes true power is simply being able to say:
This is what I need.
This is what I want.
This is how I feel.
And allowing someone else to have their own experience without trying to control it.
Then, almost immediately afterward, I worked with another woman whose past-life imagery showed her as a harsh ruler as well—an Ursula/Mermaid Queen type of energy.
She was critical and judgmental and ruled from an energy of “not enough.”
And once again, the mirror showed up in this lifetime.
She grew up experiencing criticism, judgment, not-enough energy and control from her own parents.
Now control had become one of the most difficult energies in her life—both being controlled and needing to control in order to feel safe.
Two completely different people.
Two ruler lifetimes.
And almost the exact same lesson.
Control Was Everywhere
As I continued doing sessions, I realized control wasn't limited to these two people.
It was everywhere.
Sometimes control looked like perfectionism.
Sometimes it looked like caretaking.
Sometimes it looked like fixing everyone else's problems.
Sometimes it looked like needing everything to go according to plan.
Sometimes it was working harder and harder because somewhere inside lived the belief:
“If I do enough, maybe then I will finally be enough.”
And for others, control came from never learning that it was safe to receive.
If love, praise, money, support or affection came with conditions growing up, receiving doesn't necessarily feel good to the body.
It can feel dangerous.
So we learn:
I'll do it myself.
I'll take care of everyone.
I'll fix it.
I'll make sure nothing goes wrong.
I'll stay in control.
And eventually...we become exhausted.
Then I Saw Something Else: People Are Waking Up
There was another theme I couldn't ignore.
So many people I met knew something wasn't working anymore.
They were stuck.
They were exhausted.
They knew they didn't want to continue living, working or relating the way they had been...but they had absolutely no idea what was supposed to come next.
And I actually think that space is important.
Because sometimes we're so desperate to know what's next that we immediately try to fill the empty space.
Another job.
Another relationship.
Another responsibility.
Another plan.
Another thing to fix.
But what if you're not supposed to know yet?
Yesterday I pulled the Home card, and its message felt like the perfect continuation of everything I had witnessed.
Come home.
Back to center.
Back to yourself.
Before deciding where you're going next, ask:
What do I actually want?
Not what your parents wanted.
Not what your partner wants.
Not what makes you look successful.
Not what you've always done because you're good at it.
Not what keeps everyone else comfortable.
What is authentic to you now?
Maybe the reason you're feeling stuck isn't because you've lost your direction.
Maybe the old direction simply doesn't fit anymore.
And before the new direction can become clear, you have to stop trying to control the answer long enough to hear yourself.
That may be the invitation so many of us are receiving right now:
Release the control.
Release the need to have the answer immediately.
Come back home to yourself.
Reevaluate.
Receive.
And then decide what you want to create from here.
Sometimes awakening doesn't begin with knowing exactly where you're going.
Sometimes it begins with finally realizing:
I don't want to live the old story anymore.
So pay attention to the shadow presenting itself. It is your partner in seeing what you're holding onto and what needs to be let go to recenter yourself back into your authentic self.
